A2P 10DLC: registering to send business texts in the US
US carriers require business-sender registration (A2P 10DLC) for texting from local numbers — what it is and why it matters.
If you text US customers from a local (10-digit) US number, US carriers require your business to be registered as an A2P (application-to-person) sender — the framework is called 10DLC.
What that means in practice:
- Registration identifies your business (legal name, address, tax/registration details) and the kind of messages you send.
- Unregistered or incomplete senders face heavy carrier filtering: messages delayed, blocked, or marked as spam.
- Registered senders get better throughput and deliverability.
